Jarrett my blessed youngest child is in Vancouver doing the welding component of his mechanics course through BCIT here in Kelowna. Quite the turn around. The course has been a God send. I have not been knitting for a while. It is 25+C and I have been very busy.

Starting a new job, making a life skills program for special needs teens. Hard let me tell you. New - don't know budget - don't know kids - don't know parents on and on

I finally finished my 8 pairs of mittens for the MITTNZ 2008 blitz for the Cheyenne River Reservation. I will send along a baby blanket too. I will take a picture of that tomorrow and post it then.

Jarrett my dear sweet son number 3 stole 20 bux from me and we had an arguement. I told him he cannot live in our house if he steals. This is not the first time he has stolen - he has stolen out of Yassir's wallet, from Justins back pack and from my purse and my mothers house - her bottles that her b/f had bought her and cash. What decent man steals from his grandmother - I mean hello. How aweful. well he decided to go and live at his g/f - He is 18 next month - many have moved out at this age. and survived. I want to go and get him but in my heart I know I would not be doing him any favours to poopoo this incedent now that I called him on it. and he needs to grow up. but holy hanna it is hard. I am more hurt and upset now than mad. but he has to know - there is a line - do not steal, sorry - you cannot sleep with you g/f in my house when you are a minor and do not have a job and steal and act badly. You have to be responsible to get that privledge and you have to be old enough.

I am 4/5th the way through 2 pairs of the mystery mitten KAL. THey are little snowmen on the back - very cute. I will hopefully finish them tonight. I started some 2 colour mittens but they re a challenge. I am not enjoying them but they will be warm. Who ever gets them will not appreciate the work. carrying 2 colours on 36 stitches on DP isnot easy - not as easy as a sweater. that is for sure.

You know I thought love conquers all.

Simple things are so hard to understand until you figure out what it is that is wrong. Like yesterday, there was a woman in the grocery store with a hajib, a caucasian woman with a hajib. my hubby - being muslim saw her and pointed at her and wanted to stand there and analyze what culture and race she was, as seeing a woman in hajib is rare in our town - no talk about a white woman. I just turned the corner and kept going.

So here is the long and short of it. I am Canadian - we know staring is rude. pointing and staring is ruder. We do our best to be accepting of all differences and we may see them and acknowledege them and even give a little thumbs up or down in our head. But we do not make a big deal. But in my husbands culture it is perfectally okay to stare and point (so he says) SIGH

So needless to say, he though I was disrespecting and ignoring him and I was just embarrassed that he would point and stare and he gave me the silent treatment for hours until he finally told me why he was peeved and then I was pissed right off.

So that is another point of contention. I feel it is good to talk about what is bugging you . Understand it and then move on. And he does the silent treatment and for the most part I do not know he is upset but sometimes I will ask who peed in his cornflakes and he does not talk so what does that accomplish? I ask you what does it accomplish!!!!!!!!?????

I want to be in love and happy-or at least passionate. I want to live. I want a man that can not live with out me that wants to be with me and sharing with me and and and...

So it has been a while since I have made a post. Yassir has finally arrived - September 3, 2007. We are adjusting. He is used to sleep ing until noon and then again in the afternoon. I get up early and want to sleep at night. He is of course awake and I am bitchy. Everyone seems to love him as much as I do. He starts english classes tomorrow. So that should be good. As for knitting I have knit about 10 pairs of Horcrux socks from Knitting as fast as I can - I love that pattern and have not found one to replace it that I even want to try

Well I am making some corn chower using this recipe and it looks good!!!!!!!!!!!!

one toddler slipper sock finished

I have finished one little ankle slipper sock but they are not for donation well except to little GDD out of this very ugly wool that is sooooooooo soft. beigeish with these little pieces of fluff on them. I wonder if all those bit of fluff will wash out or end up in the dryer. I have no idea as to the content of this wool so I guess they maybe be barbie slippers if it is wool wool The ball, which was a rescue for a 2nd hand store is unwinding in a bizarre and messy aggravating way. I hope I can buy a ball winder soon. It would help a lot.

I put 5 hearts of Chart 2 around the bottom. There is 103 stitches around 4 stitches for each button band leaving 95. This allows you to work 5 stitches between each heart (chart of 13 stitches)as well as 5 before and after each button band. I believe the sweater I made will fit an 24 month old easily. I did 6 buttons. I love how this turned out. It is actually a denim colour although it look like it has a bit of a purple tint. I will likely make this pattern again for my granddaughter although she is a big 2 year old. I may need to adjust a bit.

Preemie angel shell hat

I made the preemie shell hat pattern with a 3.00 mm hook- yes TOO small for baby. She is 4 lbs and the hat made with 3.50 mm hook fits just nice. Her she is moleling and l she looks a little concerned about wearing it - all preemies have a concerned wise look. I think she is smiling though

Baby sport weight yarn

Size E or 3.50mm hook

Ch 4

Rnd 1: Make 11 dc into the 4nd ch from the hook, join with sl st into top of first 3rd chain to form a circle. Do not turn after any round.

Rnd 2: Ch 2 (counts as a dc, now and in every round), dc into same st, *dc, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around and join with sl st. (24)

Rnd 3: Ch 2, dc in same st as joining, dc in next 2 dc, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts. Repeat from * around and join with sl st. (32 sts)

Rnd 4: Ch 2, dc in same st as joining, dc in next 3 st, * 2 dc in next stitch, dc in next 3 sts. Repeat from * (38)

Rnd 5-8: dc in each st and join with sl st. (38)

( I always do my first dc in the same place as I join this make a tidier join in the end - for me.)

Rnd 9: ch 1, sc in joining, *skip one dc and 5 dc in next dc, skip 1 dc and sc in next* repeat from *. ss into ch1 and fasten off.

Alternate Versions

Alternate Rnd 9: change color and do another round of dc

Alternate - with a Brim.

Rnd 8: dc in each st, in front of loop only, join with sl st.

Round 9-10: dc in each st and join with sl st. Fasten off

FLOWER - as shown on (Preemie Angel Shell sweater)

Flower: Ch 9, sc in first ch, ch 8, sc in first sc, repeat for a total of 6 petals. End off. Trim ends. Sew to center front of hat.

I chose not to put a button in the center - feel free to do this as they did on the angel sweater set.

For me this hat turned out with a circumference of 11 inches which should fit a 4 lb baby

My dear GD has a new little sister. She was born Mar 25 2007 at just 4.1 lbs ( I think) I have crochetted a couple little booties and a couple hats. I forgot to get pics of them but I have just finished the little sweater. I love it. It is 12.5 inches from wrist to wrist. The pattern I used was the Preemie Angel Shell Sweater. I have yet to add the little flower. I have created a little shell edged hat to go with it. I will post the pattern tomorrow. and maybe some booties
